The Personal Information we collect and the practices described in our Privacy Policy are done in an effort to provide you with the best experience possible, protect you from risks related to improper use/fraud, help us maintain and improve the Abra platform.
Section 326 of the USA PATRIOT ACT requires all financial institutions to obtain, verify, and record Personal Information that identifies each person who opens an account (in this case a wallet). This federal requirement applies to all new users.
Abra complies with the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield Framework and the Swiss-U.S. Privacy Shield Frameworks, as set forth by the U.S. Department of Commerce regarding the collection, use, and retention of personal information transferred from the European Union and Switzerland to the United States. Abra has certified to the Department of Commerce that it adheres to the Privacy Shield Principles. Personal Information we collect may include the following:
- Email address
- Mobile phone number
- Full legal name
- Social Security Number (“SSN”) or a comparable government-issued identification number
- Date of birth etc.
If you are a resident of the European Union, you have certain rights regarding the collection and processing of your data pursuant to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Those rights include:
- The right to transparent communication
- The right to access basic information
- The right to data portability
- The right to rectify information
- The right to withdraw consent
- The right to erasure/to be forgotten
- The right to not be evaluated solely on the basis of automated decision-making processes
- The right to restrict processing
Abra is required to give effect to your rights of access, rectification, erasure, and the right to object free of charge. However, Abra may charge a reasonable fee for repetitive requests, unfounded or excessive requests, or further copies beyond the initial copy provided.
We may share Personal Information with third-party service providers (including those that may be located outside of the United States or your country), who help us operate our platform and systems, and detect fraud and security threats during the normal course of our business. Such third-party service providers are subject to strict confidentiality obligations. In addition, we may be compelled to share Personal Information with law enforcement, government officials, and regulators.
